The 24th Taipei International Cycle Show took place from March 16th to 19th in TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall, with the slogan of “Think Bicycle, Think Taiwan”. This year it not only showed innovative complete bicycles, bicycle parts and accessories, light electric vehicles (LEV) from international leading brands but also demonstrated “Cycling Life” at the same time.

 

Taipei International Cycle Show widely included new product launch, seminars, Award Ceremony of the 15th Int'l Bicycle Design Competition, 2011 Taipei Power Forum, 2011 International Cycle Trend Forum, The 2011 Annual Innovative Products Competition Award. Beside indoor professional contents, it also set an outdoor experience zone at north entrance of TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall, which attracted some 1000 visitors per day trying the newest products.

 

Every name brand in cycle circle showed their products, such as Giant, Merida , Pacific, Colnago, Cinelli, Shimino, SRAM, Campagnolo, SIGMA SPORT, Robert Bosch, Bergamont…and so on. There were France Pavilion organized by UBI FRANCE , European Pavilion run by Coliped. Key manufacturer in India, Poddar Tyres Ltd, firstly attended Taipei International Cycle Show, expressed it was a good opportunity for Poddar Tyres Ltd to introduce products and contact international buyers.

 

Taipei International Cycle Show is one of the top three well-known cycle shows in the world , this year it reached a highest historical record with 3060 booths from 948 companies and 36 countries. There were one fourth exhibitors from overseas countries. Slightly influenced by Japan M9.0 earthquake, buyers from Japan and Germany dropped 25%, but there were still 5071 foreign visitors, with the growth of 10.5% compared to 2010. To fulfill exhibitors’ show space demand, the showground included 1st , 4th ,5th, 6th floor and outdoor space of TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall, still with 800 booths on the waiting list , which provided evidence of the potential future.

 

According to host’s statistics, top ten buyers were from China , Japan , USA , Korea and Germany . China , rising 36.7%, had replaced Japan to be the No.1 buyer of Cycle Show. There were 16% Chinese buyers among all buyers. From abovementioned information, it was generally believed Asia will continuing dominate international market in the cycle industry. And without a doubt, Taipei International Cycle Show will keep playing its key leading role of being the main platform to Asia cycle market.

 

To save visitors’ time, Taipei International Cyle Show 2011 sent nearly 2000 buyer badges to those hotel visitors stayed before the show started. Other buyers also could get their buyer badges on May 15th, the day before the show. Foreign visitors also admired the free MRT EasyCardt offered by the hosting unit.

 

Mr. Connery, a visitor from Australia , said this is his third time attending Taipei International Cycle Show and could see its growing and more and more international. He also admired the convenient public transportation from Taipei city center to TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall by either Wenhu or Banna Line MRT system. Mr. Chen, a buyer from Malaysia , took the route B free shuttle bus from TWTC Nangang Exhibition Hall to AGORA GARDEN TAIPEI Hotel, satisfied with the thoughtful transportation for foreign visitors.

 

Next year will be the 25 anniversary of Taipei International Cyle Show, it will combine Taipei International Cyle Show, TaiSPO, and new Taiwan International Sports Apparel and Accessories Show, and Taiwan International Diving and Water Supplies Show and take place in TWTC Hall 1 and Nangang Exhibition Hall, with the predicted 6000 booths and over 10000 domestic and foreign visitors. Moreover, Japan , Italy , Germany and Netherlands all expressed their interest to create national pavilion in 2012, which will make the show more attractive and thriving.
